Edina Country Club Whole Home Remodel

Edina Country Club Whole Home Remodel

Located in the Country Club neighborhood of Edina and overlooking Minnehaha Creek, this home underwent a whole home remodel and addition. A major objective for the home’s owners was to expand the home in a way that integrated the addition with the idyllic features of a wide lot and significant creek shoreline. So one of the first significant architectural decisions was to rethink the garage: the front-facing structure was replaced with an expanded 3-car version that provided access from the north side. This created a sweeping and seamless presence for the home’s front exterior while adding new living space. A new bedroom, bath, and additional room for an expanded primary suite was added above and a large utility space below.

On the other south side of the house, a new wing was created featuring a new family room on the main level—complete with fireplace and egress to a stoop and patio on the side lawn. On the 2nd story a new bedroom and bathroom were added, along with space for an exercise room on the lower level.

Two key living areas for the home’s owners were the kitchen and primary suite and thanks to an expanded foundation, both gained the space and features needed to become highlights of the home. The kitchen gained 8 feet in depth, larger windows, and access to a back stoop and patio in the back yard, steps from the creek. The primary suite was designed to balance visual drama with comfort and convenience. It features a large primary bedroom with vaulted ceiling, connected hall, two primary closets, and a spacious spa bathroom with a Kohler Artifacts bathtub and stone walk-in shower with bench.

And finally, outdoor spaces were also rethought and reworked to take advantage of the dramatic lot location. Nestled on the south side of the home, a large stone patio with stone columns offers the perfect spot for relaxing and entertaining with sweeping views of the expansive lawn and garden, as well as the creek. In the back of the home, another large stone patio offers panoramic waters views and quick access to the kitchen for outdoor dining.
